Health and Safety Orientation - 10 Hours

This 10 hour course meets the required guidelines for the CCDF Health and Safety Orientation Training.  The course is divided into 10 modules and does NOT need to be taken all at once. As a student you may complete the course over time so that you are not sitting in front of your computer for 10 hours straight. We find that it's best to not take more than 2 modules at a time. The training contains a lot of details and you will not retain as much information if you try to take the entire class at once.

The course covers the required content:

• Prevention and control of infectious diseases
• Prevention of sudden infant death syndrome and the use of safe sleeping practices
• Administration of medication, consistent with the standards for parent consent
• Prevention of and response to emergencies due to food and allergic reactions
• Building and physical premises safety, including identification of and protection from hazards that can cause bodily injury such as electrical hazards, bodies of water, and vehicular traffic
• Prevention of shaken baby syndrome and abusive head trauma
• Emergency preparedness and response planning for emergencies resulting from a natural disaster or a threatening incident
• Handling storage of hazardous materials and the appropriate disposal of bio contaminants
• Precautions in transporting children
• How to handle food allergies in your center
• Effective strategies to handle discipline issues in your classroom
